Wood Farm Barn is an important educational centre in Suffolk.

Wood Farm Barn provides the local community and schools from a wide area with a base from which to explore the Benacre National Nature Reserve and the Suffolk Heritage Coast.

Part of its role is to help in the interpretation of modern agriculture on the Estate, which is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Benacre Farms Company is committed to improving the understanding of rural Britain as a living, working environment and helping people to discover, explore, understand and be inspired by the natural environment.

Wood Farm Barn was created by the conversion of a group of redundant farm buildings into an outdoor classroom centre from which young people can access the surrounding farmed countryside and National Nature Reserve for a range of educational activities.

We offer curriculum targeted learning experiences and fieldwork for educational groups from primary school to university. Out-of-school learning and fieldwork not only brings the theoretical part of a subject to life, but can also be an intrinsic part of an individual’s personal development.

The Barn has facilities for people with wheelchairs, and disabled visitors are welcome.

It is free of charge for groups of children under 18 years of age and we stage an annual open day, for primary school aged children, to give you a flavour of our activities.
